L'amour d'un pays...

L'amour d'un pays / Passion for Canada

Campaign launched in Montreal April'92

Let's re-introduce ourselves. Over the past month or so, I have approached older people, younger people, anyone who looked open, or attracted my eye. In a restaurant, riding a bus, in a bank, I smile and ask "Are you a Canadian?" if the answer is yes, I give them a gift, a Canada flag jewellery pin.

Breaking the Ice.

Truthfully, most people are surprised, slightly suspicious, and responds "why are you asking?", opening up a wonderful opportunity to make a new friend and see if they share of my passion for where we live.

To date, I have not encountered one person who directly said "no" to being a Canadian. Many people who were nervous in their response, qualified themselves as "Quebecers too" or even "Quebecers first", but when offered a jewel like the flag, not one person has handed my gift back.

Definite Strings Attached!
Often I'm asked how much they owe me and I responds "its a gift, IF you put it on right now, and wear it always."

Desire + Commitment
This very simple one-on-one campaign is intended to raise awareness and outwardly express the love & passion we feel for our country. Connecting the emotional response to the BEAUTY of the Canadian flag, and encouraging ASSOCIATION with its positive international reputation; we propose to create a link between the DESIRE to have these things and the COMMITMENT one must make to maintain what the flag represents.

Sound Like a Good Proposal? If you've been wondering how you can make a difference RIGHT NOW, join me in an effort to identify proud Canadians throughout Quebec. When you and I see thousands of individual Canadian flags worn on the streets, in the office, and the unemployment line, we'll know who the really passionate people are. Express what's in your heart, and the noisy minority will have to accept the naked truth.

P.S. Lapel pins are available free of charge, volunteers are needed for pin distribution throughout Quebec. Recapture the Passion... get your friends involved, and make new friends too! Send a POSTCARD expressing your Passion for Canada, quantity of pins desired, your name, delivery address and daytime phone number to:
